Days that I'm thinking of writing a post about my last trip to the US, but honestly I didn't enjoy it that much. I spent the most of time wanting to get back home, thinking of my Lolly alone without me, missing the local accents and even shows.
What surely drives me mental is that bloody habit they have to call you "ma'am". First time I heard it, I said "I'm not a mum, no fucking kids and I'm proud of being single!"
Another thing that pinches my nerves is that you can't having a look aroung into a shop without finding a clerk on your shoulder after just few seconds, following and asking you what you need, what you're looking for and offering their help. FFS, if I need you, I'll ask, give me a rest huh?
Even at the restaurant, the waiter was so friendly and talkative that I wanted to throw on his face the whole glass of water, ice included.
Not talking about the absolutely non-sense rules on the road. If I lived there I'd be the first one to rip my licence in a thousand of pieces just to avoid the nightmare of driving. And cops... nothing like Gardai, they look like enemies, always ready to piss you off.
I still have to understand coins. A dime, a quarter, a penny... Too much complicated printing on them the exact amount of value, I sorted putting my change in the hand of the clerk saying "get what you need".
So, in the end I have really few things that I enjoyed. The visit at the Capitol Building in Salem has been nice but even there, looking at the Gold Pioneer statue on the top of it, covered by gold, made me think of all the money wasted, same thing you can "enjoy" on a visit at the Vatican. But the view from there is priceless.
Nice visit at the Oregon State Hospital too, set of the 1975's movie "One flew over the cuckoo's nest". Bush Park is still a nice place to have a walk and I absolutely love all those squirrels all around that look at you with their smart little black eyes, studying if you're going to feed them or not. And geese, everywhere. Just a lil bigger than ducks. They're definitively funny.
Well, glad it's over, glad I'm home again, I felt like a fish out of water, miles away from my habits and my way of being. So much stressing.
